THE FLYING ZONE - An urban exploration in colour, texture and movement Location Description The Flying Zone exhibition is a collection of Castanon’s paintings over the last ten years that traces the artist’s progession with colour, texture and form. Castanon is always taking a step forward. He attempts to break away from usual art forms, executing his works in layers that “explore the physical limits of applied colour on carved swirls, dancing with their own shadows while concealing and revealing a drawn figurative image or a suggestive composition” (Quote from Bridget Tracy Tan, Curator, Singapore Art Museum). The works in this collection present a whirlwind of unexpected emotions and dramas, inspired from everyday life and urban settings. With his distinctive technique in using layers of colour, each piece has a multi-dimensionality and brilliance of its own that sneaks up on you and opens the boundaries of your imagination.
