Description
The works of Diah Yulianti, Katirin and Ahmad Shukri Elias (Shukri) are an insight into human nature and the individual’s confrontation with himself, others, his surroundings and destiny.

The exhibition of paintings plunges the viewer into an inner journey of the human experience - man and his conflict with self, his emotions and a need to grasp the spiritual.

All three artists paint in an explosion of colour to reveal a personal perspective of the search for meaning - a scrutiny of an inner voice and soul…a coming to terms with existence, being and one’s situation… a grappling with relationships…an attempt to understand the beyond.

In fluid strokes of colour, Katirin’s paintings evolve into a poetry of emotion, while Shukri’s works reveal hidden meaning in what first appears as a striking visage. The paintings of Diah, the female artist in the group, attempt to capture the female situation; her spiritual self and the symbolism of ritual. Her fiery reds and oranges are a hint of the intensity of the artist’s search for meaning to life.
