LARGE CANVAS, as titled, is a display of large oil paintings by Thai artist, Alongkorn Poochamchote (Kob). Better known by his nickname Kob, the artist’s big paintings measuring 11/2 to 3 metres, cannot help but evoke the emotion that he has embedded in the many layers of vibrant colour.

The Artist
With an interesting past and a struggle to become the painter that he is today, Alongkorn Poochamchote (Kob), was born in 1962 in the north-eastern part of Thailand. One of ten children and the only child that his family could afford to send to university, Kob studied political science, in the hope of a lucrative job after graduation. Pretending to be an art student on campus and hanging around the art faculty, Kob taught himself to paint. After graduating, he worked in the hospitality industry and painted in his free time. With a sell-out show of his works in a restaurant in 1996, Kob now has a clientele in places as far flung as South America, Australia and China.
